Georgetown’s Dunbarton Oaks

Images from Dunbarton Oaks, a peaceful garden oasis even at the height of summer. This beautiful estate, on what’s said to be the highest hill in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC, was established by Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss in 1920. In 1940, the couple bequeathed the house and a part of the grounds to Harvard University to be preserved as a center for the Humanities.  The gardens are gorgeous in almost any season. There is also a museum and research center where many art works collected by Margaret and Robert are displayed.
